Jeannie:

Hi, I’m Jeannie…Non Profit worker by day, musician and paranormal enthusiast by night!  I grew up in a small town north of Sacramento having my own paranormal experiences as a child. Like most kids, I stuffed it way down, until it came bubbling to the surface 20 years later!  After getting married, traveled a LOT! Living in Moscow Russia and Austin, Texas, we finally settled back in Nor Cal ending up in Sacramento. My husband is a teacher and we spend our free time obsessing about music, film and books. Oh and did I mention Harry Potter? Talk about obsession!  I love going to my meditation classes each week and I am working on my skills as a sensitive to assist the group! I LOVE API and the work they do in our community.  Helping people has always been something I have strived to do in both my professional and personal endeavors.  Seeing the group in action and knowing that the client will get a good night sleep after we’ve left just warms the heart. That is what it’s all about!

DAY JOB: Non Profit Work

An Interview with Jeannie:

1. What interested you in the paranormal?

I have always had a natural curiosity about the paranormal and strange things. I love learning about new ideas and how things work.

2. How are you treated in public when people realize that you are a
paranormal investigator?

They are fascinated and ALWAYS want to know if I have seen a ghost. Whether or not they take it seriously, doesn’t really bother me. When my niece found out, my sister overheard her telling a friend:”My aunt is a ghost hunter, she is so COOL…”. :)

3. Have you ever had anybody react to what you do negatively?

I have felt some resistance, but nothing negative. Just people that don’t really understand what we are doing and wanted to me to help them understand.

4. What do you do when you aren't investigating?

My husband and I are huge music, film and book people and that is how we spend the majority of our free time.  I front a local band called “Ahoy!” and we play locally and some out of town gigs occasionally. I sing, play guitar and write songs for the band. My family and music are the two passions in my life, with paranormal interests coming in at 3rd place.

5. What investigation sticks out in your mind?

My first paranormal experience with the group. It was back in July 2009 in an old mining town in the Sierra Nevada’s. It was the first time I actually saw something with my own eyes. The best part was that I wasn’t alone, fellow investigator Brad was right there with me and experienced and saw the same thing I did. A huge validation! When stuff like that happens, it lights a fire in you and makes you work that much harder to help clients. It was a life altering experience and one that I will not soon forget.

6. Have you had any unexplained experiences?

I had a few when I was a kid, and since being with the group, I have had a few more. I have seen, heard and felt several things since becoming an investigator. And every time it happens (which is actually pretty rare), I always try to explain it away!!!

7. What skills do you bring to API?

I try being a team player in everything I do! I am a planner by nature, so I have attempted to help with events and the business side of the group. I am working now on the launch of our quarterly newsletter as well as helping with fundraising. We have such a wealth of knowledgeable members and I am continuing to learn from them as well as studying on my own. I read a ton and I am always looking to increase my paranormal IQ.

8. What do you want to get out of your experience with API?

Continued growth and knowledge. I always feel such a sense of pride in our group after leaving an investigation where I know we have given a family their home back, or at least some peace of mind.  Helping people feeds the soul, and I love that API makes this a priority in the work they do.

9. How does your family feel about your investigations?

My family is very supportive and they love that I am out there helping families.

10. Do you enjoy being an investigator?

It is one of the most rewarding and enjoyable things I do. I love all the different roles and duties assigned and recently began helping during investigations as a sensitive.  Every task is important and different! It’s great!
