Jason K.:
Senior Investigator and API Board Member
My name is Jason and I grew up in a spooky farmhouse in Oklahoma. I don't remember it
being haunted in the true sense of the word, but all those odd nightly sounds, shadowed
corners and feelings that I was about to be axed by a spectre with a scar and a grudge
tends to leave its mark on a young, wide-eyed kid! Since then, I have practiced opening up
myself to psychic phenomena, with an eager emphasis on retro-cognition and intuition. I
love to confront the fear of the unknown! I have always wanted to help bring
understanding to those who fear the activity in their home or business and even spirits
themselves should they "ask" for it in some way, whether I feel they need help or they ask
directly somehow.
I asked and did receive! I moved to Sacramento in 1997 where my wife and I lived in an
apartment that was already occupied by the spirit of a young woman whom we often heard
walking barefoot down our carpeted hallway, and who enjoyed hiding our truck keys for
hours, then giving them back to us in obvious places! Once we found the truck keys placed
intentionally in a pyramid style on the edge of the driver's seat. Some years later, I was at a
friend's house and felt energy moving around by the back bedrooms when everyone there
was in the front room. So I watched the hallway without saying a word and clearly saw the
apparition of a tall balding man walk from one bedroom to the next silently. When I
followed, he had gone.
Day Job: I'm a Computer Desktop Support Technician
Hobbies: I love to write fiction. I have published one book and hope to publish my first trilogy soon! I also love reading and meditation.
An Interview with Jason K.:
1. What interested you in the paranormal?
There’s a certain amount of excitement that surrounds me when I am in a haunted location, an edgy tingling that is not unlike the few moments right before a roller coaster ride! What sets me apart from most people is that while they’re the ones who see a ghost and run, I’m the guy who sees a ghost and goes after it!
2. How are you treated in public when people realize that you are a paranormal investigator?
Heads spin and I’m immediately surrounded by questions and free drinks!
3. Have you ever had anybody react to what you do negatively?
Only when I formed the ill-fated API Special Forces team and showed up to a location wearing body armor and carrying advanced technological gadgetry.
4. What do you do when you aren't investigating?
When I’m not investigating, I’m a published author, father, and husband. And occasionally I fix people’s computers to pay the bills!
5. What investigation sticks out in your mind?
Susanville, for a few reasons… one of which was that I was able to use my psychometric skills of touching an old wagon wheel and seeing in my mind the journeys it had made from Oregon to just south of Sacramento. That was a giant leap for me in having the confidence of using that skill, because the information was verified later by Erin, one of our many excellent sensitives!
6. Have you had any unexplained experiences?
I have had a few, one that stands out was the young woman (I felt she was a young woman, but never saw her) that would walk “barefoot” down my apartment’s carpeted hallway and into the computer room where I would be sitting, and look over my shoulder. She was always very sweet and felt like a wonderful, curious presence.
7. What skills do you bring to API?
I use my deduction skills and years of experience in solving scientific problems when trying to debunk home-owner claims of activity, which brings a nice balance of science and practicality to the team’s investigations. I also have a creative and humorous mindset which I use to bring about a sense of grounded calm in a situation that might be frightful or on edge.
8. What do you want to get out of your experience with API?
What I get out of this experience is one of the most powerful circles of friendship I have ever experienced. I’m surrounded by people who are not only wise, but very loving and open.
9. How does your family feel about your investigations?
My daughter wants to join API when she turns 18 in 2019! My wife just likes that fact that I’m not constantly jabbering her ear off about ghosts around her!
10. Do you enjoy being an investigator?
This has been one of the greatest experiences of my life and I will continue to be with API for as long as they’ll have me!
