Jason:

Lead Sensitive, Sr. Investigator, and Debunker - His balance of calmness, light nature, and professionalism is invaluable to every investigation he participates in.

Jason Keli’inohokula Lindo, or Keli’i to his friends and family, is a sensitive from a long line of sensitives. Jason was born in Honolulu, Hawaii and is of Native Hawaiian, Chinese and Sephardic Jewish heritage. Jason grew up in a traditional Hawaiian home steeped in beliefs about ghosts, ancestral guardian spirits and legends of sacred geographic spots.

Jason says his first encounter with a ghost, the spirit of his Hawaiian great grandmother, happened when he was 5 years old at an old Chinese graveyard in the Makiki district of Honolulu. Since that encounter, Jason has developed, with the encouragement of family elders, his ability to sense and communicate with spirits.

Jason has been a member of several California paranormal groups and has been featured on the live broadcast of Dead Famous from Hollywood. Jason has investigated some well known California haunted locations, including: Hollywood Forever Cemetery, the California Governor’s Mansion, the Crocker Museum and Sky Ranch near Yosemite National Park.

In addition to his work in paranormal investigations, Jason is also active in several Native Hawaiian cultural and political groups in Northern California where he frequently advises on traditional Hawaiian protocols and at his synagogue in Sacramento, where he and his partner of 15 yrs are active members. Jason also works as a social worker and supervisor for a large, Sacramento based non-profit agency working with the developmentally disabled. Among Jason’s interests is collecting multicultural ghost lore and historical documentations of hauntings from across the globe.

An Interview with Jason:

1. What interested you in the paranormal?

I have been interested in the paranormal since I was a young child back in Hawaii, where I am from. I saw the ghost of my great grandmother when I was 5 yrs old in the graveyard she was buried in. I also saw an apparition when I was 8 yrs old in my bedroom in the old Victorian home we lived in. These two events, along with coming from a family that both believed in, experienced and talked about seeing ghost got me interested in the supernatural.

2. How are you treated in public when people realize that you are a paranormal investigator?

A mixture of interest and amusement from most people. I have and a few negative experiences where I have been ridiculed or mocked, but those a definitely the exception.

3. Have you ever had anybody react to what you do negatively?

Yes. Usually  for one of two reasons: their religious beliefs do not allow for any kind of dealing with spirits or because they do not believe in the paranormal and believe that those who do are either foolish or a bit crazy or deluded.

4. What do you do when you aren't investigating?

Many things! I am a social worker by profession, I am very involved in my synagogue. I am part native Hawaiian, so I am involved in several Hawaiian political and cultural organizations. I live with my partner and we are also active in the local gay community.

5. What investigation sticks out in your mind?

The investigation that sticks out in my mind the most was at Sky Ranch. Lots of poltergeist activity with doors opening and closing, cold spots, EVPs, footsteps, rooms locking from the inside.

6. Have you had any unexplained experiences?

Yes, quite a few.

7. What skills do you bring to API?

I am a sensitive, so I bring that perspective to API and also that ability to sometimes identify and communicate with a spirit when instruments cannot detect there is anything there. I bring a broad cross cultural knowledge about ghostlore and paranormal phenomenon from geographic areas, ethnicities and religions. I also bring my skill as a social worker in helping people come to terms with a haunting.

8. What do you want to get out of your experience with API?

I get to work with a really dedicated, fun and knowledgeable group of like minded people. I also get the opportunity to investigate places that I never could have gotten in to before. And, I get to increase my own personal knowledge base and skills.

9. How does your family feel about your investigations?

My partner is very supportive, although he has no interest in the paranormal. My biological family find it fascinating and are very supportive.

10. Do you enjoy being an investigator?

Absolutely!

11. Is there anything else you wish to add?

Just that I would encourage anyone who has had a paranormal experience, or has an interest in the paranormal, to contact a group like ours and get involved. It will open up a whole new world for you, it did for me!
