The Investigation:
It was already dark when the team arrived at 8:30pm. The weather was clear, cool and without
a slight breeze. We began our investigation in the attic and worked our way down. This
restaurant has several different banquet halls. It is roughly 8,000 square feet now &

9:00pm – The attic was opened by Dave with the whole team present. The Attic was large,
containing 2 full rooms that were once used as servant quarters. EMF was without much
fluctuation. Photographs showed mostly dust and one possible moving orb. Temperature
was consistent.
9:30pm – The team split for the next level due to size. Janelle, Kris, Dave, and Ann went to
the front sitting room where activity occurred during the preliminary interview. (Ann felt a
child small bouncing on her leg, swinging their legs.) Kris used a Trifield EMF and had spikes
go shooting from 0 to 100 and back to 0 in mid-air. Photos taken show a dense orb. Dave
and Janelle felt a cold spot each time this occurred. Background noise was too loud to
conduct an EVP session.
10:00 – Ann and Charlotte went to the rear of the upstairs to conduct an EVP and dowsing
session in what seemed to be a quiet location. Upon review, this was not the case. There
was no documented activity here in any form either. An experiment was set up by Dave to see
if a doll moved for the video camera. It did not move after 30 minutes of recording.
10:30 – The team descends the staircase to the main level. This is the largest area to cover
with the 2,730 square foot Empire Ballroom, bar/original fireplace, and restaurant. All team
members reported cold spots zipping past them, EMF spikes, and several bright orbs in
photos and seen. Also reported was a feeling of being watched in the ladies restroom. In
the main restaurant photographs without a flash showed something move fast in front of the
camera. It was above the floor level and could not be recreated. Other team members
captured various interesting orbs and felt a breeze swish past them in this area.
10:45 – Dave and a small group go down to the basement to investigate the entrances to two
old tunnels. They once lead into Placerville, but no longer are open. Only dust was seen on
the cameras here. No other readings were outside of normal range.
11:00 – Back in the Empire Ballroom photographs with no flash reveal a dark shadow in
motion on stage upon entering the room. Another team member took several pictures of the
stage and has a possible orb that hangs in one general location. The possible orb
correlates with a mid air elevated EMF reading at 1.4. Baseline in this area was
0.0 – 0.4 gauss. Temperature readings fluctuated from 72 degrees to 65 degrees within a
second in this area.
11:25 - Ruth conducted a dowsing session in the ladies restroom. Ann heard a noise, like a,
“psst”, behind her in the stall that she stood in. Feeling extremely uncomfortable, she left.
Dave and Jason investigated and also heard a sound from the same stall that did not sound
like plumping.
11:40 – The team went back upstairs to evaluate prior EMF readings. Janelle watched the
Chandelier dim then brightens again. The electrical was all re-wired. Ann professionally hid
a shallow closet and waited to test Janelle’s reflexes. Her reflexes are perfectly intact. Ann
also checked the other unsuspecting team member’s reflexes.
11:50 – The bar area was now the focal point of interest for the next experiment. Since a
man had been seen at midnight in this area, Jason led a séance in front of the original
fireplace. EMF readings over the bar area rapidly spiked from 0-2 to 100 and back again.
Bright orbs with a blue hue were seen reflecting in the mirror above the fireplace. There is an
image of a doll in two pictures taken without a flash. There was no doll there and it did not
show up in any other person’s pictures.
12:10 – Caren participated in a second séance in order to channel any spirits that may be
there. This was in response to the first session that concluded after the glass moved across
the table. Caren began to use phrases we had never heard from her before of another time.
At the end of her channeling session, she had no recollection of what she said. We do have
audio of Caren, but no EVP’s that we can “call” due to camera people moving about.
12:45 – The team packed up and headed home after a very exhausting and interesting
evening.
Research Highlights:
The lower level (Empire stage, bar, stairwell base, and restaurant front) produced the most
abnormal readings and photography. Also producing EMF spikes, battery drain, and
photography abnormalities was the front sitting room. EVP was not usable due to too much
background noise. Video experiments were negative for any activity.
