Location: Salinas, CA
Present: Dave, Ann, Amy, Michelle, and Gary
History: This particular area used to be an old military base around WWII. Italian, German, and
Japanese families were known to have lived in this area.
Reason for Investigation: The family wanted some answers as to some of the experiences they were
having. They lost two young men in their family in 2003. Some of the experiences they described included
seeing shadow people, noises in the kitchen at night, cell phones ringing on their own, and smoky
apparitions have been seen as well.
The Investigation: The team arrived at the residence around 6 p.m. We did not have a sensitive
identified, so Ann and Michelle provided their own impressions. The team conducted the scientific
portion of the investigation with the temperature and EMF devices. Ann took photos of the
investigation while Dave attempted to work on the DVR system. This was the first investigation where
we utilized the DVR system so we were excited to try it out. In front of a closet, Ann asked any family
spirits present to show themselves for the DVR camera. A flurry of “orbs” immediately came from the
closet towards Ann. Gary, as the assigned debunker watched her repeat this and then went to figure it
out. After he completely dusted every square inch of the closet, walls, vents, and anything he could find –
the effect could not be recreated. Unfortunately, the SWAN DVR systems hard drive did not record
our findings. The family did watch the monitors with Dave and heard what we were doing and why as we
went.
Video cameras were set up in the rooms that were identified as having activity. We spent a lot of time
explaining the investigation protocols and functions while we worked. The team took a break and
discussed their initial impressions and determined where to conduct the EVP and dowsing sessions. We
agreed to conduct the sessions in the locations where shadow people and apparitions were seen in an
attempt to make contact. Once we completed the sessions, we broke down the equipment and left the
residence.
Research Highlights: Temperature and EMF readings did not produce any significant findings.
Although we did not have an official sensitive during this investigation, Michelle provided some
information that she perceived during the evening. She described feelings of being watched, felt
something brush past her leg, received an impression of a young lady in a bedroom and a young man
peeking out from behind a door, which may correspond with the information gathered during the
preliminary meeting. Both apparition’s had been seen in the home by both family and non-family members
prior to API’s arrival. One of the sightings dated back 50 years. The second was very recent and the
reason for API being asked into the family’s home on behalf of the TAPS family.
