Astrology
By Caren,  API sensitive
Astrology is an idea and notion that dates back as far as man has been created and living. There have been
illustrations of stars in famous caves found in Lascaux South France going back 14,000 B.C. Astrology
was used by viewing the stars, galaxies with the naked eye and predicting how future possibilities and omens
may be avoided or enhanced by many pre-historical cultures. The earliest known astrological documents
date back to Babylon, 1645 B.C and the earliest horoscope dates back to 410 B.C.

Babylonians had developed the 12-sign zodiac, but it was the Greeks during the time period of Alexander
the Great during their conquest by the Romans who provided most of the fundamental elements of modern
astrology. Astrology has been documented and widely used throughout the ages and particularly during
the Renaissance period. This was a time of literacy and astrology information, which became widespread for
public consumption. The art and science of astrology was popular with both the well-educated and illiterate,
rich and poor alike and it also seemed to have a very high religious acceptance and significance throughout
most cultures. It remained accepted but lost popularity during the Puritan era 1700-1800’s. By the 1930’s it
gained widespread popularity due to the birth of Princess Margaret who had an article written about her
astrological profile.

Almost every Nation in primitive or modern times has cultivated astrology including the Egyptians,
Europeans, Eastern Indians, Native Americans, Africans, Chinese and many other Asian cultures. Egypt
was very sophisticated and adept with timekeeping and calendar science. During the Roman times, Greek
and Roman’s most educated men included astrology in their laws and counseled citizens based on the stars.

Astronomy is the scientific study of astronomical objects and phenomena where astrology explains and
bases it emphasis on the attempt to correlate the movements of the celestial sphere or “mystical heavens.”
Astrology is also based on the theory that the position and movements of celestial bodies which include:
stars, planets, sun and moon, position at time of birth will profoundly influence and affect a person’s life.

The most popular form of traditional Western astrology is sun sign astrology, the kind found in the
horoscopes of many daily newspapers. A horoscope is an astrological forecast. The term is also used to
describe a map of the zodiac at the time of one’s birth. It is interesting that many people find a very strong
correlation between their zodiac sign in relation to their personality and beliefs. The modern scientific
profession mostly considers astrology to be a pseudo-science; although new professional researchers of
Quantum Physics and Mechanics are showing some evidence that there may be some correlation in how the
Universe is laid out in relation to explaining various changes in energy fields that effect the tides, the
position of the moon in relation to earth and other phenomena.
